Washington, DC (November 15, 2023) — Caregiver Action Network (CAN) is proud to stand by family caregivers and endorse the Lowering Costs for Caregivers Act. This act would allow individuals to use their tax-free health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts on medical expenses for their spouses and dependents as well as for their parents. As of now, American caregivers are struggling to pay costs for their loved ones’ needs out-of-pocket. This piece of legislation is a leap forward for caregivers that could provide them with financial backing that will improve not only their lives but the lives of those they are caring for as well. CAN also appreciates the bipartisan work of Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA) that has gone into bringing this legislation to life. We hope to see more bipartisan action like this in the future so that together, we may further enhance the lives of caregivers and their loved ones.
