Hi, I;m new here, not the primary care giver for my 95 yr old mother, but my sister is. Im worried about her health. She has been care giver for at least 5 yrs. Mom has dementia, started out mild but progressing. Has good long term memory but short term is pretty much gone. Mom likes to be independent, has been all her life.
My sister, Mary is primary care giver. Im worried about her...talked to her last week about putting Mom in assisted living (now in independent living). Mary says no, mom's not ready for that yet. Im concerned it's Mary that isn't ready but she is too close and can't see what it's doing to her. Myself and other sister live too far away, sometimes one of us goes up to help.
Anyone had any experience helping primary caregivers make hard decisions?
