How to get Dad to doctor to diagnose possible dementia/alzheimers

Hi, I'm overwhelmed but so happy to have found this place. It's such a comfort to know I'm not alone, but so sad at the same time to know others are dealing with the same or worse than I am. I have many things going on...but the most important right now is I suspect my 88 year old father (who has always been the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet), may have dementia/alzheimers. I made a doctor's appointment for today which he canceled. He is very argumentative, and very angry at both me and my Mother. "There is nothing wrong with him" according to him. We have not mentioned dementia or alzheimers to him, just that we think a check-up would be a good idea. Has anyone dealt with this kind of road-block? I'm wondering how in the world I can get him to the doctor to be diagnosed?

Hi Karen, Ive been dealing
Hi Karen, Ive been dealing with the same issues with both of my parents. My sister and I went to the Alzheimers Association website and printed out the 10 signs. We then documented all incidents that applied to our mother (including when the changes began, etc). We then mailed this along with a letter to the Doctor. Mom's next doctor visit-she was given the diagnosis of dementia. Just an idea?
