My father was diagnosed with AML back in April of this year. His diagnosis turned my entire family upset down. Both of my parents live far away from me and my siblings but I happened to be back home when he got sick. He is responding really well to treatment but he is absolutely over the blood transfusions. As of a few days ago my mother just started receiving medical bills. Although they have insurance, it does not cover everything. They also reached the donut hole for prescriptions. Both of my parents are retired and we are all pulling together to help but could really use some additional help and unfortunately cannot find any. If you don't have insurance there is a lot of financial help available but not so much for people like my parents who worked hard all of their lives. It is sooooo frustrating. I have been thinking of starting a fundraiser online but would also like to hear what other people are doing that are faced with a similar situation. I won't give up.
