Bed mobility issues- getting in/out of bed (and repositioning)

Father was 230# turtle on his back in bed- couldn't move an inch. Mother was 88 year old (with back problems) helping him day/night. Researched everything for bed mobility and would be glad to offer suggestions. Please let me know.

Hey there. There are quite a few assistive devices out there that he may be able to take advantage of to increase his independence. While they may not fully remove the need for your mother to help, it may reduce the strain she is feeling / reduce the risk of caregiver burnout.

Something like a bed rail or transfer pole can help with getting in and out of bed, while an assistive strap may help with repositioning. He should probably be assessed by a health care provider to see what his own capabilities are, but I suggest looking at this site for some general information on some of the aids and tools out there for helping one get from sitting to standing: http://www.helpmedevices.com/tag/transfers/
