Hi I am a full time caregiver for my disabled brother that has multiple and severe medical conditions. He lives with me and I have cared for him on and off my entire adult life. I have been taking care of him full time now for the last three years. I am suffering from exhaustion, depression and burnout. I do my best to take care of myself but he is solely dependent on me for everything; physically, mentally and emotionally. Sometimes I feel like I just can't take it anymore.
Hello "I feel like I just can't take it anymore". I feel your pain. I do not believe it is possible for you to continue without getting relief. You must have more often some days off so that you can survive. Your brother needs you to survive. Do everything you can to find more help than what you have so far.
I am really sorry that nobody responded to your post. I just signed up today. I see that most posts have gone unanswered. Please tell me your update since Feb.4th. I hope and pray that you can find respite care. If you can't afford it, does your brother qualify for Medicare payments for agencies that provide respite care for you? It's impossible to do this alone. I am looking forward to hearing from you again. -Sparrow
