I just wanted to say hello and to give you a brief summary of my task in life.
I am a Mother of 5, My 38 year old Son was diagnosed with a SMI (Chronic Paranoid Schizophrenia)
when he was 15 years old, I have been taking care of him all of those years! I have recently reached out
for help, and I did not know that there were so many of us out there. I never had reached out for help in
any form and now I am thankful I finally did. I feel very "exhausted" in our struggle and sometimes I don't know
if I can emotionally continue, but I keep going because I love my Son so much and I don't ever want him to walk
alone. I am so happy to be a part of your community. May God Bless All of Us on our journeys. Thank you for
allowing me to share(Hugs)
Hi LadyZ, That's amazing you are so committed to your adult son! I hope you have the strength to continue. I just wanted to say that my brother has schizophrenia and my mom found the support she needed to know how and what to handle things with him by attending the NAMI support meetings. Today she is 90 and my brother is 62 and I am his support person now, but from a distance as he lives in another state. Our communication by text and phone calls is his life line.
Thank you for sharing your intro. I hope that more people start using this forum and that you find support more specifically than me. Take care!
