The Caregiver / Parent Advocacy Toolkits provide a collection of resources and materials for caregivers of color whose children or loved one experience mental health issues to inform, educate, and engage them in advocating for resources and services. These advocacy toolkits provide caregivers of color with the necessary information and tools to take action and make their voices heard.

Advocacy for your loved one dealing with mental health issues is critical for obtaining services and resources to help them improve.   • Circle of Care- A Guidebook for Mental Health Caregivers
  • Caregiver / Parent Assessment Tool: Caregivers and Parents of Color may have a challenging time assessing their loved one’s mental health condition. There are many ways to help with this process. Caregiver Action Network (CAN) has teamed up with Mental Health America (MHA) to provide you with a caregiver parent screening and assessment tool.
    • The Parent Test is for parents of young people to determine if their child’s emotions, attention, or behaviors might be signs of a problem.
    • The Youth Test is for young people (age 11-17) who are concerned that their emotions, attention, or behaviors might be signs of a problem.
