Hi, I'm 30 and I take care of my mother who is in a wheelchair. I live in a small town and want to move to a place with more opportunities but I would feel bad leaving my mother by herself. I'm not having luck finding other people my age who I can relate to. Are there any other millennials who are caregivers as well?
I just signed up so i just saw this comment. Yes I'm a millennial who's a caregiver

It is wonderful to see millennial caregivers reaching out and engaging on the online forum. Your experience as a caregiver is unique and it is so important to find a place to share your experience, because it can mean the world to someone in a similar situation that feels alone.

It's completely understandable to feel torn between wanting to pursue opportunities and feeling responsible for caring for your mother. Many millennials find themselves in similar caregiving roles while also wanting to explore their paths. You're not alone in this.

It is quite natural to feel conflicted about taking advantage of possibilities and about your need to take care of your mother. Many millennials desire to explore their career pathways and find themselves in similar caregiving jobs. This is not just you. buildnow gg

I appreciate your care and concern for your mom. But you have to understand that, at this stage of your life career could not be secondary. You must focus on your career and shift to urban areas where you get ample of career opportunities. You can also take your mom with you to the new location; if this is not an option, go and find any good care home in your nearby areas and shift your mom there for some time. Once you get settled in the new location, call your mom there and stay with her forever.
