I've been a caregiver to my mother with dementia for several years. Even though she's been in an assisted living facility for almost two years, I spend many hours each week managing her personal business and talking to her on the phone, often trying to set boundaries and avoid her manipulation and unreasonable demands. I have problems of my own, which makes being a caregiver extremely difficult for me. I have one sibling who's overseas with the Army until August and has no idea what I go through (and doesn't want to know).
I hope I can make some friends, get some ideas, and generally feel a bit of relief here.
Hello, and thanks so much for posting here and sharing a little about yourself (and your caregiving situation). I am sure so many can relate to what you've shared - just the general challenges of being caregiver while trying to make sure you're priortizing your care, but also the challenges of having friends and family a distance a way that aren't as a able to be a direct support sometimes.
I am hoping that some others will chime in with their hellos and share their stories as well.
