Hello everyone

Hi everyone.  My name is Colleen and my husband Mike and I take care of his 92 mother.  she has short term memory loss but lately has started to go downhill in the memory department.  This week has been especially bad and we are at our wits end.  She is currently in the hospital because of her rantings.  They are trying to figure out what is going on since the rantings just started 2 days ago.  I hope that I can learn what are best practices that we can do to help her and to save my husband (who is home with her all the time) from going crazy.  Thank you.

Caregiving your 92 age Mom

Hello Colleen and Mike...  I just signed up for this site today. I was shocked to see that most comments are never answered. I am going to write to a few and see if we can get a more active group talking.

Since your original post, has there been any diagnosis for your mother-in-law's rantings?  Have they tried medications to calm her down?  It sounds like her brain is going a bit hay-wire.

Does your husband receive any relieve time during the day to go out and do something for himself?  Have you asked the doctor if you qualify for home care respit worker/sitter?

My mom is turning 90 next month. Alzheimer or Dementia undiagnosed by very obvious. Just recently falling down and unbalanced so I am becoming a more fulltime caregiver than I was. Just knowing there are others going through the process is encouraging for me. I ordered a walker. I hope my mom will use it. She is stubborn. Perhaps they all are!

Please tell your husband to take care of himeself.

Talk to us soon.
